Mariamante Academy
Grades 7 - 12

Mariamante Academy is a private day school for young men and women providing a classical liberal arts education consistent with the wisdom of Western Civilization and the teachings of the Catholic Church. The fundamental goal established for the Academy's work in education is to help parents lead their children to the knowledge, love and service of God. A close knit family... is how some people have described Mariamante Academy. The intimacy of the school and its classes provides a unique opportunity for students, faculty and administration alike as they form a Christian community of learners.

Founded by Louise S. Desilets in 1995, the Academy fills the need for a Catholic junior and senior high school. Joining roughly one hundred other independent or private Catholic schools nationally, Mariamante Academy's intellectual focus is structured to assist the student through the trivium of learning: the grammar (grades 7-8), logic (grades 9-10) and rhetoric (grades 11-12) sequence of development. Philosophy and religion permeate each academic discipline.

Our first concern is the development of a truly Christian character in the student. It is for this reason that instruction in religious truth and values is an integral part of our school's program and why both our Catholic and non-Catholic students are required to take religion class and participate in the Academy's liturgical life.

Students must be willing to work intellectually, discipline themselves morally, and come to take their place responsibly. As a result, students educated at Mariamante will mature into adults whose contributions to society cannot be calculated. They will take with them an intellect trained in truth, a character formed in integrity, a heart devoted to God and an engaged work ethic.

Offering its students an education immersed in the classics, Mariamante provides a liberal arts education consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church. This education is based on the "Ignatian method" which recognizes the primacy of the student's spiritual and intellectual formation. At Mariamante, instruction in religious truths and values is an integral part of the school's program. It is not one more subject alongside the rest, but rather, is perceived and functions as the underlying reality in which the student's experiences of learning and living achieve their coherence and their deepest meaning.

“…by natural and divine law the right and duty of educating offspring belong primarily to those who, having begun the work of nature by begetting children, are absolutely forbidden to leave the work they have begun and expose it to inevitable ruin. For this most necessary task of education the best possible provision has been made in marriage, where the indissoluble bond between parents ensures their collaboration and mutual help in that work will always be available.”
-Pope Pius XI, Casti Connubii

Holy Family Academy is dedicated to assisting families in the education of their children in a manner that enhances strong family life. We recognize the fathers and mothers of students as the God-ordained teachers of their children. Hence, we shall strive to cooperate with parents in giving the educational background that they truly desire for them and that the children deserve as sons and daughters of their parents on earth and of God above.

Being given this responsibility calls the Holy Family Academy to strive to help you form children in the light of Christ; that is, to permeate your children’s environment with Catholic truth. Therefore, the entire curriculum will be directed to mirror Catholic truth in contrast to the attempt of the secular world to permeate a child’s environment with moral and aesthetic relativism, with economic socialism with ideas that isolate, and collectivize the child into communal confusion.

The primary function of this school is to give your children the truth, which is an understanding to the level of their capability of who they are and why they are here, and of what they are and why they are here, and of what they ought to do. It is to give a clear understanding of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the Ten Commandments, and the Beatitudes, the Sacraments, the Saints, and all the everlasting and unchanging truths of the Catholic Faith. These are to be taught and understood as objective truths and not presented as mere opinion or warm feelings. C.S. Lewis’ Abolition of Man gives a clear presentation of the dangers of subjectivism in education. He articulates the need for a clear presentation of objective values in both ethics and aesthetics.

Where the truth of Catholic teaching takes flesh in young lives.

Angelus Academy, founded by the Woman's Apostolate to Youth, is a private, non-profit school, loyal to the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church. Characterized by an atmosphere of mutual respect and generosity of spirit, Angelus Academy is committed to transmitting the time-tested traditions of the Catholic faith and culture. Angelus Academy is a private co-educational Elementary School for children from Catholic families.

Angelus Academy desires to root its curriculum firmly in the reality of God's good creation, training the mind to seek the truth, the emotions to love the beautiful and the will to choose the good. To this end, we are continually working to shape a curriculum that stresses the existence of objective truths, enduring moral values and lasting standards of excellence. We seek to encourage the development of these enduring values in our young students by showing them how they have been embodied in great minds, great works and especially, in great lives throughout our entire curriculum.

In union with the parents, who are the primary educators of the child and in loyalty to the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church, Angelus Academy is committed to transmitting the rich and time-tested traditions of Catholic faith and culture in a familial atmosphere characterized by mutual respect and generosity of spirit. Commending ourselves to the patronage and prayers of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Incarnate Love, and St. Gabriel, Angel of the Incarnation, we invoke the guidance of the Holy Spirit as we seek to cultivate in every child:

• a foundation for personal integrity and moral courage by encouraging personal prayer and devotion to Christ, to His sacraments and to His saints as winsome and compelling embodiments of Christian virtue;

• a reverence for the sanctity of human life, regard for the dignity of every person and loyalty to the family, expressed in obedience to competent authority, empathy and respect for one's fellows, and compassion for all who suffer;

• a taste for excellence and a love for what is lasting and authentically beautiful in all aspects of human culture as the basis for the wholesome development of the creative imagination;

• a broad and rigorous intellectual formation through the training of the faculty of reason and a disciplined quest for the truth in every area of life.

To these ends Angelus Academy employs teachers who recognize that no testimony is more eloquent or convincing than personal witness and are therefore committed to their own ongoing intellectual and spiritual formation.
