Teacher Certification Program

Upon registration in the TCP, detailed syllabus, bibliography, readings booklets, study guides and other materials will be furnished.

Introduction

The well-rounded teacher has mastery of the subject(s) taught, a facility with communication, the ability to draw back from the student what has been learned, and openness to improving his pedagogical skills. The NAPCIS TCP aims at polishing those qualities through a yearlong course of study, discussion, and classroom application, all ordered to perfecting the preparation of the teacher.

To ensure a thorough treatment of the various aspects of the teacher’s art, the TCP program of study considers the following topics divided below more systematically in the syllabus, and coordinated with the NAPCIS Standards of Excellence for Teachers:

  • Catholic Educational Principles
  • Catholic Faith and Morals
  • Teaching and Student Evaluation Skills
  • Educational Professionalism
  • Mentoring and Motivating Techniques
  • Classroom Management and Discipline
